New school wins LABC Award
Oakland Construction has won a Highly Commended Building Quality Award for Public/Commercial Building from the LABC
The project for a completed classroom block, offering 2 new classrooms, is at St Mary’s Primary School in Writhlington, near Radstock.
The award ceremony in the Guildhall in Bath was on 9th February 2018, and the Headteacher, Sue Jones, complimented both Oakland Construction and BBA Architects on the excellent addition to the school.
She remarked “how attentive the Oakland staff were, which made the whole construction process easy for them with no traumas or inconveniences, and the whole project being a seamless exercise”
New houses win LABC Awards
The first two new build houses for rent by Bristol City Council have received a regional finalist in the South West LABC Awards, in the Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development category.
In addition this housing scheme was the winner of the Bristol Building Excellence Awards in the Best Housing category and was described as “an exemplary project, delivered in a spirit of partnership with the Building regulation and Standards Team”.
New house in Bath wins LABC Award
A new single storey architecturally designed house has received a High Commended Build Quality Award from LABC – Bath & North East Somerset Building Control, the presentation being made by former Liberal MP, and now Lord Don Foster of Bath at the Guildhall in Bath.
Mission House in Combe Down was the former site of a small timber frame religious building. Oakland Construction built this award winning house for private owners as their retirement home.
Prinknash Court residents bury a time capsule
Residents of Prinknash Court in Yate have celebrated the completion of the major £776k refurbishment works to their homes by Oakland Construction, by burying a time capsule full of personal photos and memories.
The residents donated items which were created at an event to mark completion of the building’s £716k modernisation. At the event, nearly 50 people watched 90 – year- old Claudine, who has lived at Prinknash for over 25 years, cut a ribbon and declare the scheme “officially complete”.
Residents praise remodelling work
Residents at Ware Court in Winterbourne have praised the remodelling work which was undertaken by Oakland Construction, converting bedsits at their independent living services (ILS) scheme into one and two bedroom flats for Merlin Housing Society.
This is second scheme by Oakland Construction following the successful works at Prinknash Court in Yate.
Jean Lowe, who has lived at Ware Court for 29 years, said: “On behalf of the residents still living at Ware Court, we would like to congratulate the Merlin and Oakland team on the way the building works were conducted”.
Beryl, another long-term resident wrote in a letter : “A big thank you to all Oakland’s workforce – they were so polite and considerate and nothing was too much trouble. We heard no radios or bad language”
