Demolition of redundant garages and construction of four timber frame houses This project of 4 no. new houses is the second development completed by Oakland Construction, within Phase 1 New Build Homes Programme for Bristol City Council, consisting of 2 x 3 bedroom and 2 x 4 bedroom homes.

Ledbury Road project offers an alternative approach to the usual construction methods in that the houses are of timber frame construction clad with brick and rendered elevations. The advantages are very clear to see – quick erection time thereby reducing impact on neighbours: reduced time to weather the structure: reduced construction waste through efficient controlled manufacturing: factory controlled quality assurance in fabrication: energy efficient to current standards: locally sourced timber from managed forests and sustainable material: high expected design life.

As members of LABC Warranty and Considerate Constructors Scheme, Oakland Construction is proud to achieve the target of BRE Code 4 for social, environmental, economic and sustainability of these new build homes. The air permeability and acoustic test results were impressive leaving the future residents to enjoy these new homes in relative comfort.

The project also achieve a Secure by Design (SBD) certificate confirming that the project has been built to the Official Police Security Initiative, and thereby reducing the opportunity for crime. The SBD security measures (Part 2) are in excess of Building Regulation Approved Document Q.
