Health & Safety Policy
Oakland Construction comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. The company goal is to achieve a safe working environment for the benefit of all our employees and stakeholders.
Our planning and procurement always make the safe completion of works the most important consideration.
Oakland Construction aim is to foster an environment in which our staff feel empowered to make decisions based upon health and safety. The quality of these decisions is directly related to competence and the level of training provided.
Oakland Construction has an excellent safety record with a low or virtually zero accident record.
This is directly due to the Induction training and regular Toolbox talks held on site, inspired by the management team ethos and also assisted by our external consultants, Building Safety Group, in Bristol. Building Safety Group pays regular visits to site to carry out audits and issue reports for the company self-improvement.
Building Safety Group is charged with all health and safety training for staff and retained sub- contractors. A matrix is used to monitor and control dates of training and expiration. Certificates are issued and held to validate the training subjects for each individual.
All Site Managers receive training via CITB in Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), whilst other tradesmen are CITB trained to Construction Skill Certification Scheme (CSCS) level.
Oakland Construction management team include qualifications to NEBOSH and T.IOSH levels
