Oakland Construction carry out small new build residential projects, with new build and refurbishment of social housing.

For new build, the company can build a single house, or a small development of 4/6 units, terraced, semi-detached or detached.

Social Housing clients include Guinness Trust, Knightstone, Solon, Merlin Housing Society, and Bristol City Council.
The main consideration is that we usually do not have exclusive access to residents’ homes. In this regard, work progresses around residents some of whom may be elderly, infirm, or have young families with children.

It is therefore of paramount interest to the client and the company that we are sensitive to the residents’ requirements and needs, and endeavour to work with them in partnership, with full liaison and communication.

For any resident on a social housing estate, the resident does appreciate that their home is being improved and they will be most helpful to make the goal achievable in the most expeditious way possible. Our personnel are trained to extend respect to all residents and their neighbours.

At Mill House in Easton, Bristol, the first two new build houses for rent by Bristol City Council for 25 years, received a regional finalist in the South West LABC Awards 2016, in the Best Social or Affordable New Housing Development category. In addition this housing scheme was the winner of the Bristol Building Excellence Awards 2016 in the Best Social Housing category and was described as “an exemplary project, delivered in a spirit of partnership with the Building Regulations and Standards Team”.
