Charity & Community Construction
Charity

The charity sector is close to our hearts at Oakland, and we’re proud to work with many organisations on construction and refurbishment projects that really make a difference to people’s lives and communities. Through our work in this sector, we know the importance of operating in an open, collaborative way that delivers transparency, trust, and value for clients at every stage of their project.
While working with charities often means the client’s teams may not have much experience in the construction industry, we’re able to take on the responsibility of guiding and advising throughout the project. By breaking down technical information and providing clear communication, we make sure everyone fully understands every decision, so clients can make informed choices that deliver the value and impact needed.

Collaboration and flexibility
Oakland has an openly collaborative process for every project, working alongside stakeholders to develop spaces that support children, adults, and vulnerable people or help bring people together. Operating with complete flexibility, we can adapt to the pressures many charities face, including budget constraints, funding, and operational needs.
We also know how important it is to minimise disruption, especially when refurbishment work is carried out in any space that’s in daily use. To help limit disruption, our team plans carefully and works respectfully, always going above and beyond to make sure any day-to-day activities can carry on as normally as possible.

Transparency and responsibility
Being transparent through regular communication also keeps all stakeholders included and informed along the way. These comms mean any potential issues can be dealt with quickly, avoiding unnecessary delays. This process helps deliver better project outcomes and strengthens the long-term relationships we have with the organisations we work with.
With a range of completed projects in this sector, including Gympanzees, Paul’s Place, Clifton Diocese, and The Theatre Royal, Bath, we have a responsibility to build and help bring to life spaces that have a positive effect on how people live, learn, or get support. While this makes the charity sector a rewarding one for us to work in, our experience makes Oakland Construction a trusted partner on charitable and community projects across Bristol, Bath, and the West of England.
