Our Commitment To The Environment
Environment

We support green building practices and sustainable development to minimise the environmental footprint of each project. We focus on reducing waste, conserving energy, and using eco-friendly materials to create a cleaner, greener future for us all.
We know that building and construction work can impact the local, regional, and global environment. That’s why our management team is committed to continually improving our environmental performance while prioritising the training of all our team members in our environmental management policy. The industry’s Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP) hasn’t been a legislative requirement since December 2013. However, our ISO 14001 certification, the recognised environmental management system (EMS) standard, regulates our sustainable processes while showing our commitment to environmental protection across our projects through more efficient resource use and waste reduction.

Environmental Excellence
Alongside our legal and regulatory commitments, consistently reviewing our environmental performance targets also helps us improve our internal processes and those of our suppliers, business partners, employees, and stakeholders.
Additionally, we always seek to protect and enhance biodiversity on every project, ensuring all wildlife and ecosystems are fully considered in our planning phases.

Our environmental commitments are fundamental to Oakland's operation. Together with a ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ ethos, we minimise environmental impact where we can and promote sustainability in everything we do, including:
Responsible sourcing of materials with evidence of certification wherever possible.
Prioritising local suppliers and manufacturers to reduce transport carbon emissions.
Being resource efficient, aiming to reduce energy and water consumption.
Using tropical hardwood timbers from independently certified, sustainable forests.
Sourcing from preferred suppliers who remove unnecessary packaging.
Ensure dust, noise, and odours don’t inconvenience the surrounding community while preventing the pollution of local watercourses.
Encouraging our team to go green by providing facilities for cyclists, promoting car sharing, and using public transport.
