Scope of Work:
Alterations to existing large retail premises to provide smaller and more modern retail units. Also refurbishment of structure.
These are continuing works for our client Eagle One, based in Exeter, who specialise in village retail units in the southern counties. Wilton Shopping Village, on the site of the former carpet factory, is an important outlet within their portfolio.
Works involved removal of existing old style shop narrow frontages, and in their place the installation of contemporary aluminium and glazed shop fronts, installation of steel and glazed canopy, installation of a raised non –slip decking with steps, stainless steel handrails and glazed balustrades. Office units above retail received replaced timber sash windows.
Existing felt roof was replaced with a branded mechanically fixed one using single ply membrane laid on full insulation, and grp covering on another flat roof. The elevations received new rendering
The result was smaller more marketable retail units independently served by their own services.
Full consideration was given to subject of health and safety with regard to the many visitors, customers and vehicular movements that the shopping village receive on a daily basis.
This was a fast track project and the early completion of works was critical to the client allowing access to the new tenants, and generating income.
