Corsham Primary School, Pound Pill, Corsham – Extension
Key Facts
Client: Wiltshire Council
Value: £1,394M
Sector: Education
Architect: CMS-Group, Corsham
Programme: 49 weeks
Scope of Work: Construction of a contemporary design single storey and 2 - storey extension linked to the existing school, complete with landscaping.
The superstructure consisted of the innovative National Building Technologies (NBT) Thermoplan System using solid fired clay thin bed solid wall blocks, and Pavawall woodfibre insulation to exterior, with Baumit render to panels. This system increased speed of build whilst offering excellent insulation standards. There are a mixture of roofs with majority receiving Eternit slates and the flat roofs – Sika Sarnafill.
The new extension incorporates 3 new classrooms, a 2 – storey library, new W.C. facilities, reception, and administration offices.
Oakland personnel were all assessed and certified under Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) because of close proximity to children in playground and classrooms.
Through good planning we were able to hand the project over on budget and in good time for the September term.
