Montpelier High, Bristol
Key Facts
Client: Bristol City Council
Value: £180k
Sector: Education
Architect: AHR
Programme: 8 Weeks
Contract: JCT Intermediate 2016, with Contractors Design Portions
Scope of works: The works at Montpelier High were required as part of Bristol City Council’s “Capacity Bulge” programme and therefore had to be completed over a very tight timeframe in time for the start of the new academic year.
A number of larger, under-used classrooms were divided into smaller classrooms to provide an increase in overall capacity.
Extensive Mechanical and Electrical adaptions and upgrades were required to facilitate the new classroom layouts, along with extensive fire strategy upgrades to ensure compliance in both the new and existing areas.
Specialist furniture was installed to suit the end use of each classroom, including laboratory furniture with specialist service installations.
The end users of the completed facility were delighted that the project was handed over on-time and under the original budget.
“Oakland were a joy to work with and we would have no hesitation in recommending them to any prospective employers”
