Snapdragons Nursery, Keynsham, Bristol - Conversion
Key Facts
Client: Snapdragons Nurseries Ltd
Value: £405k
Sector: Education
Architect: CMS-Group, Corsham
Programme: 26 weeks
Scope of Work: Conversion of a Grade 2 Listed house, a former Radstock College facility, to provide nursery facilities arranged over three floors, plus landscaping and car parking.
Works comprised of site strip, installation of partition walls, mechanical and electrical services to suit new room layouts.
The Nursery incorporates new classroom/play areas, W.C. facilities with child friendly colourful cubicles and vanity units, kitchen, reception office, and storage areas.
The premises had previously been used as a school establishment. Because of the Grade 2 Listed status of the building, great care was used not only to maintain the fine architectural features, but to make improvements where inappropriate modern intervention had caused previous damage.
The external works incorporated grassed areas, secure fencing, play equipment, renovation of a modular annexe and car parking.
Budget and timing to open for autumn term were all key factors, and both were met successfully.
